Rocklahoma Day 5 Part 2

Getting back to our jam-packed, final day at Rocklahoma... If we thought we were happy to have Troy from Tesla stop by to help us with our Zebra interview, then we were even happier he stopped by again with Jeff Keith who, as we all know, is Tesla's lead singer. No one was happier than our Grand Prize winners who sat in on the interview. Why was this so special? Chris and Theresa are engaged and plan to have "Love Song" as their first dance at their wedding. If I do remember correctly, a wedding invitation was extended to Jeff and Troy. We will have to check back to see if they were able to make it. We had a chance to talk about the wonderful work that was done on The Station Family Fund event, and the prospect of another one in 2009. We sure do love these bands that give back.

Once the interview was over we were lucky enough to catch Ace Frehley in all his glory. There were plenty of KISS fans and KISS shirts in the audience, and Ace gave them what they came for. Not only did we hear his songs like "Rock Soldiers" and "Rip It Out", we were given the chance to hear him do "Love Gun" and "Shout It Out Loud". He closed with the classic "Cold Gin". Ace still knows how to put on a show, and so do all the members of his band. If only Gene could hear him now.

Next to wow the crowd was Tesla. This was a non-stop, high-energy show that delivered everything one would expect from this incredible band. I do not think Jeff Keith stopped moving during the entire performance (I know this because I had such a hard time trying to take pictures of him). The show started with "Comin Atcha Live" and had the entire crowd singing along with "Love Song", "Signs" and "Modern Day Cowboy". If you have never seen this band in concert before, then you are missing a great experience. This show was quite a treat and one BuzzChic will not forget.

The whole 2008 Rocklahoma festival finished with Queensryche performing their entire Operation:Mindcrime rock opera. This show started out with very current political issues in our faces. Geoff Tate, the lead vocalist with a killer voice, held up many signs that were anti-Bush, anti-war and anti-current state of affairs. Do not even get him started on the whole oil situation. The stage was complete with a huge screen hanging down in the center of the backdrop. The screen showed video clips that helped the viewers keep up with the Mindcrime story. There was a constant streaming of words (like: skin job, sex, control, and many others) that kept us glued to the screen. Tate was totally in his element with this performance. Everything about this show was mesmerizing. You have to check out all of our pictures to truly understand all that this show was, if you could not be here with us. As if the rock opera was not enough, the show closed with some all-time favorites like "Jet City Woman","Empire" and "Silent Lucidity". Fireworks lit the sky and showed people the way out of the festival grounds for another year.

Rocklahoma was a total blast this year (not to mention the blast Mother Nature dropped on us Saturday), as it was the year before. We are sad to see it end, but we take home so many incredible memories.
